Whitewash (gofun)

Whitewash (gofun)
Whitewash is a substance which is made of ostreidae shells.
The shells have been exposed to the sun mostly for ten or fifteen years, and after that they are ground into fine flour by a stone mill.
The whitewash mixed with glue is used for printed paper (karakami) to make the underground.
Whitewash itself has warm white color and some other sorts of pigments are added for dyeing paper.
